Tradition Breakers Episode 1 with Krystl Fabella of Filipina On The Rise
As you may know, Tasty Directives is founded by me, a WOC and a 1.5 generation immigrant from a Filipino family. Although I grew up eating my culture’s food, speaking our language and celebrating our customs, I grew up feeling a lack of true spiritual connection and pride for my Filipino and Asian heritage. It wasn’t until recently that I started to reflect on that, which allowed me to notice that it actually bothered me. It bothered me because I wanted the opposite. I want to feel deep connection with and pride for my heritage so, I came to the conclusion that the best way to do that is by meeting and learning from AAPI folks who are doing inspiring and authentic things. This is what the podcast is also about.
That’s why I’m so excited to share that our debut episode is officially live on Apple, Spotify, Youtube, and all major podcasting platforms. Of course, I kicked things off with Krystl Fabella, founder of Filipina on the Rise, who is also a fellow Filipina, of course! Filipina on the Rise is a global community passionate about furthering Filipinas in Excellence through their podcast, meetups, courses, and more. Krystl is absolutely inspiring and one of the best people I know when it comes to building an engaged community.
